Hourlens Privacy Policy

Hourlens is a time-tracking app for Windows. This policy explains what it records and where that information goes.

What Hourlens records

While it is running, Hourlens notes which application window is in front, about once a second, and stores:

• the application's file name and display name (for example code.exe, "Visual Studio Code");
• the window title, only when "Record window titles" is on in Settings (it can be turned off at any time);
• the website name when a browser shows a site Hourlens recognises;
• the start and end time of each activity.

Hourlens also checks how long it has been since the last keyboard or mouse input so it can leave idle time out. It does not record what you type, keystrokes, screenshots, audio, files' contents, or anything inside other apps.

Where it is stored

Everything is stored in a folder on your PC, inside the app's own package data folder. Settings › Your data shows the location and opens it. You can choose how long history is kept and delete all of it at any time from Settings.

What leaves your PC

Nothing that Hourlens records. Hourlens has no servers, no account and no analytics or telemetry, and it does not send your activity anywhere.

The only network communication is performed by Windows on Hourlens's behalf with the Microsoft Store to confirm that your Microsoft account owns the app. That exchange is governed by the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Reports and share cards are files or images that you create and choose to save, copy or send. "Email summary" opens a draft in your own mail app; nothing is sent until you send it yourself.

Children

Hourlens is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published with an updated effective date.
